Frequently Asked Questions
What is the first appointment like?
Every situation is unique but the initial appointment generally involves a lot of information gathering as your therapist will try to get a good picture of the best way to help. Depending on your situation, you’ll be invited to share what brought you in, your goals, and what kind of support you are seeking.
If you and your therapist both agree to move forward, we’ll also discuss logistics such as a treatment plan, scheduling, and frequency of future appointments.
Do you offer in-person and/or online therapy?
PCK Behavioral Health provides both in-person and virtual/online sessions via a secure and confidential online platform for clients anywhere in Illinois. We provide online sessions in Colorado.
Your sessions can be a mix of both in-person and online, depending on your therapist’s availability.
What do I have to do to get started?
Getting started is easy:
1. You can request an appointment on our website for a consultation.
2. Call us for a consultation to see if we are a good fit for your particular needs and therapeutic expectations.
3. We will send you paperwork through our client portal.
4. You will receive a link and reminders prior to your first appointment.
Does PCK Behavioral Health prescribe medication?
The clinicians at PCK BHG do not write prescriptions. If you are interested in exploring the potential risks and benefits of psychiatric medications, consider consulting with your primary care physician, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant or psychiatrist.
If you would like to request a referral to a prescriber, your therapist will be able to discuss trusted providers with you.
How long will counseling take?
Each counseling session is 45-60 minutes long.
How long you will be in counseling is completely up to you; everyone is different. Some clients who come every week for years because they value the time even when they are not necessarily in crisis. Others come for a brief amount of time and then stop coming when they feel they have accomplished their goals. Frequency of visits and duration of treatment is something I tend to touch base about on a fairly regular basis.
How will I be billed?
If we are contracted with your insurance, we will bill your insurance company for you.
Billing is through a 3rd party, secure debit/credit card processing service and is set up with a card on file as a part of the paperwork process. We will never see your complete card number. Once your insurance has processed your claims, we will process your invoice to the card on file.
It is your responsibility to know what your yearly deductible and co-payment will be. We will try to help answer questions, but it is typically best explained by your insurance company.
